William
Shepherd (GGGrandfather) 1822, 1823, 1831, to 1897
Sheppard, Shepard, Shephard the different spellings come from all the
census and parish records I have found so far. It is difficult to say
for certain that they are all the same person but the dates and places
match but not always the age. He married Sarah White in 1842 of full age
(21) suggesting he had been born in or before 1821 (different to the census
age by 10 years?), his father is also William Shepherd papermaker, could
it be him? Sarah died in 1846 of Typhus and he married Sarah Watkins in
1852 (as a widower – if it wasn’t Sarah White who was it?)
when he was still a papermaker (at Gunns Mills?). Age given 29, birth
year 1823?

Sarah
White (Shepard) 1820, 1821 to 1846
Sheppard, Shepard, Shephard married William Shepard papermaker on The
Feast of St John 26th December 1842 but died of Typhus on 5th August 1846
age 28 (buried 7th August). Although they married in Ruardean the registration
is in Ross on Wye – was Ruardean in the Ross registration in 1842?
The copy certificate shows the registration district as being Westbury
on Severn.
